The aim of Physical Education at APWG is to develop pupil’s knowledge of why it is important to exercise, what happens to their bodies and how it keeps them healthy through teaching them a variety of skills including co-ordination, balance, agility, strength, stamina and speed.

We also seek to promote teamwork, leadership, co-operation and organisation by enabling children to participate in both skills based, and game focussed lessons. We make use of personal best cards where children can evaluate their performance and set their own targets to build on their individual progress.

Lessons are rigorously mapped out and planned over the course of each year so that knowledge and skills are built upon progressively. Teachers are supported by professional development from trained sports coaches and an online PE resource platform to deliver high quality lessons.
