Ethos & Values
Creative Dreams, Brighter Futures
On behalf of the Governors, staff and pupils of Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Green Junior Federated Schools, may we extend a very warm greeting and thank you for taking the time to view our website.
This site states the aims and philosophy of our Federated School. We are committed to provide the children with a caring atmosphere for active learning and have a high quality staff who continually strive to achieve the highest standards of teaching and learning.
It is very difficult to cover every aspect of school life and if there are any questions you might have which are not answered in this site then please do contact the school. We hope the journey through the following pages gives you a flavour of our school community.
The starting point for learning is a positive ethos and climate of respect and trust based upon shared values across the school community, including parents of children and young people.
Children and young people should be encouraged to contribute to the life and work of the school and, from the earliest stages, to exercise their responsibilities as members of a community.
This includes opportunities to participate responsibly in decision-making, to contribute as leaders and role models, to offer support and service to others and to play an active part in putting the values of the school community into practice.
School vision:
Creative Dreams, Brighter Futures.
At Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Green Junior Federated Schools, we believe every child is filled with possibility. Our vision ‘Creative Dreams, Brighter Futures’ reflects our commitment to nurturing curiosity, imagination and ambition in all our learners. We strive to create an environment were children feel confident to explore their ideas, express themselves creatively, and pursue their dreams with enthusiasm.
Through inspiring teaching and a strong sense of community, we empower pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and character they need for a successful future. By encouraging creative thinking and valuing each child, we help them group into resilient, hopeful and compassionate individuals ready to make a positive impact on the world.
School motto:
Altogether Playing, Working and Growing.
Our school motto ‘Altogether Playing, Working and Growing’ reflects the heart of our community. We believe children learn best when they feel a strong sense of belonging, joy and purpose. By playing together, pupils build friendships, confidence and a love of learning. By working together, they develop perseverance, collaboration and the skills the need to success. By growing together, they flourish – academically, socially and emotionally.
Everything we do is rooted in the idea that we are stronger as a team. Staff, pupils and families work in partnership to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child can thrive and become the best version of themselves.
School Values
Values are principles that drive behaviour. They influence our actions and attitudes and become our framework for living. They influence our relationship with others and ourselves.
Values education is an approach that nurtures and enables learners to grow, making a difference to the world through who and how they are.
Schools should promote the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
Our core school values are:
• Hope
• Belonging
• Resilience
We believe that these 3 core values underpin our curriculum and school life. The children will learn about all 3 values through classwork, projects and assemblies. Each year, each class will be allocated one of the values to learn about and put into practice in more depth.
We expect staff to demonstrate and celebrate all 3 of our school values within their role in school.
